Making an Advisement Appointment

Prospective Students

Students interested in finding out more information about attending CSUN may contact the Office of Outreach & Recruitment. Please visit www.assist.org for business courses you may complete at your community college. 

 

 

CSUN students interested in Nazarian College majors

To explore majors and minors offered by Nazarian College of Business and Economics, please review the Degree Planners and Advisement Sheets. CSUN students thinking about changing their major to business must first complete the Nazarian College Online Overview Workshop. Upon successfully completion of the online Overview Workshop, please call 818-677-3537 to schedule an advisement appointment. 

EOP Students

EOP students may schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor by calling 818-677-3537. 

Freshmen beginning their second semester at CSUN

Advisement for freshmen beginning their second semester at CSUN is mandatory. As the first step in the advisement process, please complete the online Overview Workshop. Once the workshop is completed successfully, please call 818-677-3537 to schedule your advisement session.

Continuing Students

Nazarian College students in good standing who are NOT enrolled in BUS 302/L may seek advisement by calling 818-677-3537 to schedule an appointment.

Upper Division Continuing Students

  • Nazarian College students in good standing who are enrolled or who have completed their BUS 302/L may meet with their Upper Division Mentor for advisement.
  • To meet with their Upper Division Mentor, Economics majors must first complete their lower division Economics core, be in good standing and complete 60 units.

Academic Probation

Nazarian College Students

  • Students will have a registration hold during the semester immediately following placement on probation and each fall and spring semester thereafter while on probation. Prior to registration, business majors must complete the Online Probation Workshop and then schedule an appointment with an advisor by calling 818-677-3537. Prior to the advisement appointment, please complete the Student Success Self Assessment form and bring it to your advisement appointment. The registration hold will be removed once the student has been advised.

Students not currently majoring in Business

  • Among other requirements, in order to declare a major in the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, students must have at least a 2.0 CSUN and Total GPAs. To explore majors offered by Nazarian College of Business and Economics, please review the Degree Planners and Advisement Sheets.  Academic Advisors are unable to remove probation holds for students who are not declared Business majors. Students wishing to meet with an academic advisor must first complete the Nazarian College Online Overview and Probation Workshops. Upon successful completion of the two online workshops, please call 818-677-3537 to schedule an advisement appointment.

Academic Disqualification

Previously disqualified  students will be required to complete the Online Disqualification Workshop successfully prior to meeting with an advisor. To schedule an appointment with an advisor once the workshop is completed, please call 818-677-3537. 

Academic Performance Agreement (APA)

Previously Disqualified students who have been readmitted to CSUN will be required to meet with a Nazarian College Academic Advisor until both their CSUN and total GPAs are at least a 2.0. Please call 818-677-3537 to schedule an advisement appointment.

First Time Freshmen

Academic advisement is mandatory for all first-time-freshmen prior to registration. As soon as you are admitted to CSUN, please be sure to sign up for the English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry Level Math (ELM) exams by visiting the Testing Center's website. Your ELM and EPT scores must be posted before you are eligible to seek advisement and register for your courses. Students who are exempt from these placement tests based on their SAT/ACT/Advanced Placement (AP) or EAP scores will be eligible to receive advisement and enroll in classes. Your official scores/test results must be posted prior to registration. Once you have received your ELM and EPT scores or your ELM/EPT exemption, please call 818-677-3537 to schedule your advisement session.

 

Long Distance Advisement for Freshmen: We provide Long Distance advisement for students living more than two hours away. To assist you, we ask that you first complete the First Time Freshman Workshop. At the conclusion of the Workshop, you will be asked to complete a quiz. A score of 80% or higher is required for passage. Once you have successfully completed the quiz, please call our office at (818) 677-3537 to schedule a Long Distance Advisement appointment.

 

First Time Transfer

To ensure your success, advisement is highly recommended prior to registration for all incoming transfer students. To begin the advisement process, please complete the Online Overview Workshop. After successful completion of this workshop, please call 818-677-3537 to schedule an advisement session.
