Do you know a relative, friend, co-worker, classmate, colleague, friend of a friend, acquaintance, or child that may have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes(T1D) or Type 2 Diabetes(T2D)?

Did you know that one of the two types may be genetically inherited, while the other may not?

Do you know the difference between Type 1 and Type 2?

Have you ever met somebody with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes?

Do you know the difficulties faced with being Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetic?

Did you know it begins with you and that you can make a difference?

Join us as we speak about Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes and how they differentiate from a first hand account from people like you who live with Diabetes. A truly inspiring and moving two hours you would not want to miss.

Did you know:

⢠As many as three million Americans may have T1D.1

⢠Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults, approximately 80 people per day, are diagnosed with T1D in the U.S.2

⢠Approximately 85 percent of people living with T1D are adults, and 15 percent of people living with T1D are children.1

⢠The prevalence of T1D in Americans under age 20 rose by 23 percent between 2001 and 2009.3

⢠The rate of T1D incidence among children under age 14 is estimated to increase by three percent annually worldwide.4

⢠T1D accounts for $14.9 billion in healthcare costs in the U.S. each year.5

EOH Tech Symposium

8:00 am - 4:30 pm - USU Northridge Center
http://www.csunalumni.com/eoh

Thursday, March 7th is the 8th Annual Technical Symposium hosted by the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, its alumni chapter, and its student association. Nanotechnology (one nanometer is one-billionth of a meter) is an emerging industry that involves the control of atoms and molecules to create new materials with a variety of useful functions. As concerns grow about their effects on living organisms and the environment, the symposium brings together experts to shed light on these tiny chemical messengers. Among the line up of nationally recognized speakers is Tony Machado (EOH) who also organizes the event with the Alumni Chapter President, Bob Finkelstein.
