Author, musician, artist, and international speaker, Ester Shifrin, will discuss her book, Hiding in a Cave of Trunks: A Prominent Jewish Family's Century in Shanghai and Internment in a WWII POW Camp, at a buffet luncheon hosted by the Friends of the Oviatt Library.

From their privileged lifestyle in Shanghai, to years of detention in a Prisoner of War camp, Shifrin's book tells the true life, multi-generational saga of her family's fascinating history. During her presentation on Friday, November 8, China-born Ester Benjamin Shifrin will discuss her book and share some of the cultural treasures and tribulations associated with the colorful and ethnically diverse population of Shanghai; a city that is often referred to as "the Paris of the East."
