A Retrospective of the films of Francois Truffaut
Confidentially Yours (Vivement dimanche!) (1983, 110 mins.)
In this light but nearly faultless homage to the classic film noir thriller, Truffaut showcases one of his favorite actresses, Fanny Ardant, as Barbara, an enterprising secretary in love with her boss (Jean-Louis Trintignant) but up against clearing him of murder. To resolve the mystery and reveal the real killer, she has no choice but to betray the man she loves. Truffaut's final film, Confidentially Yours is an enduring expression of the director's long fascination with the American cinema.
