The Haifa Symphony Orchestra of Israel was founded in 1950 and in recent years has become the focal point of musical life in Haifa and the north of Israel. The Orchestra, which is the most significant musical institute in the north of Israel, has recently expanded its activities throughout the country. This evening the supremely talented Principal Guest Conductor Boguslaw Dawidow and piano virtuoso Roman Rabinovich explore the musical landscapes of Weber, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven in a stunning evening of classical repertoire. The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world and renowned for its polished and refined sound, rooted in outstanding musicianship. Originally directed by Sir Neville Marriner from the leader's chair, the spirit and flexibility of the conductorless ensemble remains an Academy tradition with the newest appointment of virtuoso violinist Joshua Bell as its new Music Director. Esteemed for its superlative balance as one of the finest and most recorded chamber orchestras of all times, the ensemble continues to transfix audiences with regal musical magnificence.
