Named after architect Hans Scharoun, designer of the Berliner Philharmonie, Scharoun Ensemble Berlin marked its public debut in 1983 with Franz Schubert's Octet d803 and Ludwig van Beethoven's Septet Op.20. The preeminent octet's principal artistic focus is to bridge the gap between 20th and 21st century compositions while dedicating itself with equal passion to the interpretation of works from the past centuries. Join us this evening for an immaculate, rhapsodic, and vibrant musical journey through a program of signature chamber works.

Acclaimed pianist, Conductor and Artistic Director of the Bahia Orchestra Project, Ricardo Castro leads the remarkable youth orchestra in their first U.S. tour through an extraordinary sweep of classical music of 20th century Latin and American composers. The one hundred-member orchestra represents multiple ethnic groups from the Bahia region of Brazil and has packed concert halls in London, Berlin and Lucerne.

The venerable traditional Irish band The Chieftains has been thrilling audiences for years. Formed in Dublin in 1962 with original group members Paddy Moloney, Sean Potts and Michael Tubridy - all of whom had a passion for the sound of the uilleann pipes (the national bagpipe of Ireland) - it remains one of the leading exporters of Irish music worldwide. Through the years the lineup has changed, but Moloney continues to anchor the group's sound along with Matt Molloy and Kevin Conneff and a large ensemble of remarkable musicians, dancers and pipe bands from around the world. It's a night of beautiful folk music and merriment with one of the world's most beloved Irish bands.

The most eminent musical institute in the north of Israel, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra of Israel, which encourages the promotion of Israeli culture, features Israeli pianist Roman Rabinovich in a dramatic performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 30. This season marks the orchestra's first visit to the United States and features the extraordinarily charismatic Boguslaw Dawidow as the Principal Guest Conductor.

The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world and renowned for its polished and refined sound, rooted in outstanding musicianship.
