MBA Planning Your Schedule

Planning your Pathway: MBA “Permanent Schedule”

Given that students progress through the program at different paces, and often even change pace during the program, it can be a challenge to plan a schedule.  While trying to maintain your freedom and flexibility, we have created some predictability in scheduling that will allow you to manage course conflicts.

Each foundation course is offered at least once per year, and each core class is offered each semester on the following schedule.  Additional sections are added, sometimes on different nights (although GBUS 600 and MGT 693 are always on Tuesday evenings) as demand requires.

Electives are typically on the same night of the week as the related core class (e.g. FIN electives are on Monday night). Please pay attention to prerequisites, and  use this schedule in planning your course sequencing.

The Culminating Experience options, GBUS 698A (MBA Consulting Project) and GBUS 697G (MBA Comprehensive Exam), are offered in the Fall and Spring semesters.  Neither have regular class meetings.  You must have completed, or be completing in the same semester, all core classwork to enroll in the Culminating Experience.  The MBA Comprehensive Exam is offered over a 4 day weekend (Thursday – Monday), usually around the 12th week of the semester.  GBUS 698A satisfied one elective requirement while GBUS 697G does not.

As enrollment demands, we may add extra sections of core classes on other nights– however; we will always offer at least one section according to the schedule above.

SUMMER SESSIONS

Normally, at least 4 classes are offered each summer: 3 core classes and 1 elective that counts toward all concentrations. These classes are scheduled to avoid conflicts.  Two classes are offered in Session 2 (first six weeks) and two in Session 3 (second six weeks).  In each session, one will meet on M/W evenings, the other on T/R evenings.

Odd years: (2013, 2015, 2017): SOM 686, MKT 640, IS 628, elective (e.g  Negotiations)

Even years: (2014, 2016, 2018): ECON 600, FIN 635, MGT 620, elective (e.g. Small Business Consulting)
