Inspired by the Bookstein Institute for Higher Education in Taxation, this innovative, 19-month graduate-degree program – designed for midcareer professionals – prepares participants for careers or career advancement as professional tax advisors and consultants in public accounting, industry, government and private practice.
Courses are taught by leading practitioners in the field. The faculty's blend of expertise and outstanding scholarship in the field of taxation adds immeasurably to the learning experience, which is strongly practice-oriented.
The program integrates theory and practice throughout the curriculum. For example, students have the option at the end of their program to participate in the Tax Challenge Project, the Bookstein Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, the CSUN VITA Clinic, the Bookstein Community Outreach Tax Clinic, or the student-run Tax Development Journal. Each of these opportunities serves to integrate the material learned in the program as well as to provide students with a unique opportunity to gain valuable practical experience.
