Admissions Criteria and Application Process

 

MBA Fall 2013 Application Deadline Extended to May 31

The CSUN MBA Program selects students who demonstrate a high promise of success both in the program and in their future career endeavors. Admission to the CSUN MBA program is competitive. A typical successful candidate has a GMAT score of 590, an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 and 5.5 years of professional work experience.

 
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
 

Prospective students are required to apply online Only complete applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. The following are required for your CSUN MBA application to be considered: 

 
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • A 3.0 cumulative GPA or a 3.0 in the last 60 semester units
  • A professional résumé. Minimum of one year professional, postgraduate work experience; 3-5 years of work experience is preferred. Our current students average 7 years of work experience. 
  • Official GMAT score report. Competitive GMAT scores are required; the average GMAT of our most recent class was 580.
  • International students from non-English speaking countries only are required to submit official TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson English Test.

APPLICATION PROCESS

 

Only complete applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Completion of the admissions file is the responsibility of the applicant. 

Application Checklist: 

  • Application: Complete an online application by the application deadline. A $55 application fee is required. 
  • Official Transcripts: Have official transcripts from all institutions attended mailed to CSUN's Office of Admissions.
  • GMAT: Send official score reports of your Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) taken within the past five years. Use CSUN's MBA program CEEB code PVC-C4-74. For more information, visit the GMAT website
  • Professional Résumé: Provide a current résumé (including dates, titles, responsibilities and duties, professional memberships, awards and recognitions). 
  • Submit official English Language proficiency test score (TOEFL, IELTS, or Pearson's) if applicable

 

Application Fee

Submit a $55 (U.S.) application fee payable to The California State University. The fee is non-refundable and may not be transferred to another term. Specific payment instructions are available when you submit your online application. 

Transcripts

The CSUN MBA program requires that you submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records and must be in their original sealed envelope.

GMAT Scores

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is the primary test for admission to the CSUN MBA Program. All applicants to the MBA program are required to take the GMAT.

Work Experience - Résumé

Minimum one year of work experience is required for the CSUN MBA program, 3-5 years is preferred. The average work experience of our last few incoming classes has been 6-7 years. You may email your résumé to mba@csun.edu 

Letters of Recommendation

Letters of Recommendation may be submitted directly to the CSUN MBA Office. Recommendations may be from professional or academic source.

English Language Proficiency (International Students) 

Please have all scores sent directly to CSUN code 4707 directly from testing agency. 

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum Paper-Based score of 550, a minimum Computer-Based score of 213, or a minimum Internet-Based score of 79-80.

IELTS  - International English Language Test System with a score of 6.0 or higher. 

Pearson's - Pearson's Test of English with a minimum score of 58.
