Change Major or Option

Currently enrolled undergraduate students may change their major or option with departmental approval using a form entitled: Major (Plan) Change or Declaration.

All changes in the major or option require the approval of an authorized departmental advisor and must be submitted by that advisor; student-submitted forms are not valid and, if submitted, will be ignored and discarded.

Current University rules permit changes in a major or an option only if the new major or option can be completed without exceeding 140 total units; clear evidence to this effect must be provided. For students with fewer than 75 units, only a departmental advisor’s authorization is required; changes for students who have earned 75 or more units require as well the approval of the Associate Dean of the College in which the new major (or option) resides.
