My research program is primarily centered in environmental parasitology and explores the relationship between pollution and parasitism in marine fishes.  I am currently studying several host-parasite systems from marine ecosystems that vary in their degree of pollution, i.e., they range from being less polluted to heavily polluted.  I am attempting to identify parasite species that may be useful as sensitive indicators of environmental pollution for specific water bodies.  Other projects I am involved in include the structure of parasite assemblages in lacustrine fish populations, the ecology of lizard malaria, and the role of parasitism in mate selection in fishes.
