About Us

The Business Honors Association

OUR HERITAGE

The Business Honors Association (BHA), was founded in 2002 by students earning a degree in CSUN’s Business Honors Program (BHP). The founding BHA members purposed this association to add another aspect to their BHP experience. Many students enrolled in the BHP’s academic curriculum wanted to take initiative in leading their very own social and professional events for fellow BHP students to network with current leaders in business, build their professional skills, and form lasting friendships with fellow honor students.

More than a decade later, we still hold true to our founders’ objectives and are proud to carry the torch of leadership that has been passed on to our current BHA leaders. Our alumni, who have gone on to become executives in corporations, partners in business firms, and many other high level positions, come back to support and recruit directly from our association. Our alumni are examples to our current students that someday they too will be leading the business world of tomorrow.

OUR CURRENT INITIATIVES

To be successful in the field of business you need three things: A strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a vast network. The BHA provides students with opportunities to develop each of these key skills. We have created a variety of specifically tailored events that will develop our members into the best business professionals CSUN has to offer. When you join our association, you will be given a mentor who will guide you through your first semester. You will be invited to attend the fall retreat and integration, various social gatherings, alumni mixers, resume workshops as well as firm tours, personal branding, dining etiquette, and speed networking. Being a top academic performer may get you to an interview, but having a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a vast network will get you the job.

The Business Honors Association also works hard to support CSUN’s College of Business and Economics (COBAE). We open all professional development workshops to the business campus community, and we offer free tutoring in all business core classes to help all COBAE students reach their full potential. In addition, the BHA continues to take initiative at the college-wide level by lobbying for new professional events. It was the BHA’s leaders who proudly spearheaded the first-ever COBAE Meet the Firms event held in Spring of 2012, and we are excited to continue making that event bigger and more successful each year.

“Surround yourself with those who lift you higher, for those around you tend to influence you the most.” Members are surrounded by dedicated, hard working students with well defined plans who will push you to become better than you thought possible. You will become a well rounded professional and a mentor to other students whilst forming lasting relationships and lifelong friends. See for yourself, and join us as at some of our events, we look forward to meeting you!

OUR GOAL

“To take high achieving students and turn them into successful business professionals by developing them professionally and socially”.
