Graduate music student and opera soprano Ani Maldjian won first place at the Metropolitan Opera’s western regional auditions in Los Angeles in October, 2005, earning a trip to perform in The Met’s national semifinals in New York. Maldjian became the tenth Cal State Northridge student vocalist through the years to win first place in the western regionals, joining other famed CSUN music alumnae such as soprano Carol Vaness and mezzo-soprano Michelle De Young.
Cal State Northridge music students have been chosen to compete in The Met’s western regionals for more than 30 consecutive years.
