Hello. I'm David Levin, the Senior Director of Academic Technology here at Cal State Northridge. I’d like to take a minute or two to introduce the Faculty Technology Center. The FTC is the front door to Academic Technology. Here you will find staff and facilities to help you incorporate technology into your teaching. Located on the Garden Level of the Oviatt Library, we have three primary elements of the Center – our offices in Oviatt 5, a video production studio in Oviatt 37, and our multimedia lab in Oviatt 30.
In the lab we conduct workshops and we hold open drop-in hours every afternoon Monday through Friday. The lab is equipped with over a dozen Mac and PC laptops with many multimedia applications. We also have specialized workstations for video editing and media conversion if you have content on tape or even old LP recordings that you want to digitize.
In our video production studio you will find Tony Hillbruner ably assisted by his student employees. You can schedule video production projects if you want to record a presentation in our studio or have Tony record you in your classroom or lab.
Down the hall in Oviatt 5, you will find the main offices of the Faculty Technology Center. Here you will find Ameena Khawaja who can help you schedule time with any of our staff or faculty associates. Our staff and faculty associates are here to assist you in the use of technology in your teaching. We are particularly interested in helping you use sound principles of instructional design in redesigning your courses for online or hybrid delivery, as well as principles of universal design to insure that your instructional materials are accessible to all learners.
Please feel free to drop by our offices in Oviatt 5, contact us at extension 3443 or drop us an email at ftc@csun.edu.
