The Associated Students (AS) Children's Center will be recognized as an Exemplary Program at the Celebrating Excellence Event on Saturday May 6th, 2017 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Flintridge Room, California State University, Northridge (CSUN). The CSUN Child and Adolescent Development (CADV) Alumni Chapter recognizes a Community Program/Agency that has made significant contributions in the field of Children/Adolescents and families annually. The Criteria for this award included the demonstration of outstanding service and leadership in the profession and the community at large, and 2) significant contributions made in the field of Children, Adolescents, and Families, as well as the larger community
The Child & Adolescent Development Alumni Association was re-established in 2005 and chartered by Alumni Relations in 2006. They continue to support professional development of the Chapter, students, alumni, and Child and Adolescent Development Department (CADV), and promote community awareness and collaboration among the Chapter, the CADV Department, the College of Health and Human Development, the Child and Adolescent Student Association (CADA), Alumni Relations and California State University Northridge.
The AS Children’s Center offers care for children of CSUN students, faculty and staff, both on campus and in a network of licensed family child care homes off campus. The AS Children’s Center is a high-quality early childhood program that provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children. They are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which administers a national, voluntary, professionally sponsored accreditation system for all types of preschools and child care centers.
