Department: AS Marketing - Support Services

Position: Graphic Artist Intern

Description: Under general supervision of Associated Students Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator, the Graphic Artist intern is responsible for briefing and providing art direction along with a range of design solutions for various AS projects and events; utilizing design software, office equipment and outsourced vendors to meet project deadlines.

Job Duties:

  • Provides creative design and art direction, typesetting and layout for brochures, newsletters, posters, flyers, banners, digital media, and other forms of advertising
  • Brief and update clients through design process of assigned projects.
  • Process work orders by accurately logging progress and time spent on projects.
  • Prepares charts, posters, signage and maps
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualification:

  • Graphic design coursework 
  • Demonstrated ability to create design pieces
  • Some knowledge of design, pre-press and printing processes
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to proofread design work
  • Ability to work without immediate supervision
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Macintosh experience required, experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In Design desired.

Department: AS Marketing - Support Services

Position: Web Design Intern

Description: Under general supervision from the Marketing Coordinator, the Web Designer Intern is responsible for aiding in developing, designing, and maintaining the AS Web site; and for providing daily interaction and support for all marketing areas.

Job Duties:

  • Help in designing, maintaining and monitoring the AS Web site.
  • Analyzes and provides suggestions regarding page layouts.
  • Designs, edits, and enhances images suitable for publishing over the Internet
  • Creates PDF (Portable Document Format) for forms, documents and/or large publications
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student
  • Some knowledge of Content Management System (CMS), Drupal and WordPress.
  • Some knowledge and ability in Web site and Graphic design
  • Some knowledge and ability to hand code HTML, and some knowledge of stet.
  • Some knowledge of CSS, Javascript, PHP, Python, and other programming languages strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of creating Web sites that pass W3 standards and ADA compliance strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of current browsers (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari)
  • Proven knowledge and ability in the use of Apple and Windows PC platforms, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
  • Leadership and organizational skills required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment

Student Staff Positions

Department: AS Marketing - Support Services

Position:Building Manager

Department: Associated Students Sport Clubs 

Hours: Up to 20/hr/wk

Duties: Reporting to the Building Manager Supervisor, the Building Manager will manage Sport Club practices and events, participants and facilities in use.  Responsibilities include checking in participants, ensure the safety of participants, security of the facilities and reporting of any incidents that occur.   


Position: Student Assistant II

Department: AS Accounting Services
Hours: Up to 20/hr/wk

Duties:

Asset Management

  • Assist in conducting asset field inventory...independently when required.
  • Assist in asset data management including collection, recording, filing and evaluation of asset information.

Data Entry

  • Maintenance of Access database, Review Account Applications and Authorized Signature forms and update records.
  • Preparation of data for electronic distribution program. Verify n-Vision reports have been properly staged and ran.
  • Flat file extraction of Access DB and PeopleSoft DB information.

Accounting Office Duties

  • Review and prepare Daily Sales Reports and prepare journal uploads for Event Settlements.
  • Reconciliation of A.S. Department financial reports.
  • Prepare annual account record keeping system for new fiscal year and migration of prior year files.
  • Answering phones, file, front counter customer service, cash handling, and other duties as assigned.

Full-time Staff Positions

Human Resources Manager (AS) 

Major Duties: Under the general direction of the General Manager, the Human Resources Manager oversees the development, implementation and administration of all phases of human resources and payroll for staff, student employees, and volunteers of Associated Students. The incumbent's creativity and resourcefulness will be utilized in developing and administering all aspects of personnel policies development and interpretation, including but not limited to compensation, benefits program, employee relations, recruitment (selection and hire), workers' compensation, employment law compliance with all state and federal regulations. The Human Resources Manager ensures continual organizational and professional development of staff and student employees; assists the General Manager with meetings, risk management, research projects, personnel related information for audits, and other administrative tasks; supports staff in ongoing professional development; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four­-year college or university in a job­-related field required. Master's degree in job related field preferred. Equivalent to five years of full-­time, progressively responsible relevant experience in Higher Education and /or Auxiliary desired. Oversight and administration of a program with supervision and/or lead experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Thorough knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty, and operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Working knowledge of MS Office and HRIS. Advanced knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to Human Resources. Ability and specialized skills to: take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved; expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications; ability to train others and provide lead work direction. Interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to develop conclusions and make recommendations; perform basic research and statistical analysis; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule: This position is employed through Associated Students (AS). AS offers an excellent benefits package. The salary range for this classification is: $68,000­ $101.500 per year. The anticipated hiring range: $68,000­ $78,200, dependent upon qualifications and experience. Hours: Full Time 40hrs/wk; 8:00am ­ 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. General Information

Executive Assistant (AS) 

Major Duties: Under general supervision of the General Manager of Associated Students (AS), the Executive Assistant serves as the personal, confidential and executive assistant to the General Manager and Associate Executive Director and coordinates advancement efforts and other special projects. The incumbent maintains and updates both public and confidential records, contracts, and other documents in accordance to A.S. business policy, human resources and general administrative policies and procedures; reviews, formulates, administers and publishes corporate policy especially as related to compliance with campus, CSU system and legal standards; maintains calendar, schedules and coordinates meetings and appointments and travel; coordinates background material and technology for meetings and special presentations; coordinates governmental, corporate and strategic planning reports and correspondence on behalf of General Manager and Associate Executive Director; prepares, schedules and records minutes and reports for corporate and other organizational meetings; assists in developing and managing funding requests and proposals; creates systems for the tracking of gifts and acknowledgments; plans, produces and assesses events related to organizational fund­ raising efforts; occasionally assists other staff with special projects and initiatives; and performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEquivalent to graduation from an accredited four­-year college or university in a job­ related field. Additional experience in job­ related field may be substituted for required education, on a year for year basis. Equivalent to two years of full­-time, technical, analytical, or administrative experience. Five years of administrative experience and experience with fundraising preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft. Ability and specialized skills to: interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures; perform basic research and statistical analysis; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Ability to: work effectively as part of a team; work with a diverse population; multitask multiple priorities and projects at the same time. Strong communication, organization skills, and proven administrative skills.

AS offers an excellent benefits package. The salary range for this classification is: $39,456­ $59,184 annually. Accounts Payable Specialist (AS) 

Major Duties: Under general supervision of the Accounting Manager of Accounting Services Department, the Accounts Payable Specialist performs the daily accounts payable functions of the Associated Students (AS) Accounting Services Department. The incumbent reviews, compiles, verifies, and reconciles accounting data for accuracy; investigates and resolves errors in accounts and reports; prepares and reviews reports, financial statements, and government agency reports and forms; issues, monitors and audits travel and other miscellaneous advances; prepares journal entries; maintains accounting records for numerous funds, grants, and projects; explains university, governmental agencies, and AS policies and procedures to students, regularly attends finance committee meetings, university personnel and outside vendors/contact; composes correspondence regarding accounts to various internal and external contacts; exercises considerable judgment, initiative and independence to achieve desired results; issues service purchase orders; assists in the year­end closing process; reviews expenditure requests to ensure accuracy, completeness, availability of funds, proper signatures and supportive documentation; creates and maintain vendor files, vouchers, checks and related reports in order to stay in compliance with policies and regulations; interfaces with the bank for positive pay upload and submission of ACH payments to vendors. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field OR equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record­keeping experience which has demonstrated the above knowledge and abilities. Experience working with student clubs and organizations within a college campus and supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as required by law and department policy and specific grant/project related requirements; office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs (i.e. People Soft Financials 9.1; Microsoft Office, Centre Suite, etc.), web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems. Ability to interpret and follow instructions and policy guidelines; analyze financial and statistical data and draw conclusions; utilize problem solving techniques; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and communicate effectively with others inside and outside the unit, including conveying technical information to non ­ Accountants. Experience with reconciliation and journal upload of procurement card accounts. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials 9.1, Microsoft Office, and Centre Suite preferred.

AS offers an excellent benefits package. The salary range for this classification is: $22.21­ $32.27 per hour.
