March 26 - April 17, 2004 Opening Reception: Thursday, March 25, 6-8pm Gallery Talk: Monday, March 29, 10am CLOSED: Wednesday, March 31, for Cesar Chavez Day CSUN Art Galleries are premiering this poster exhibition, produced by the Center for the Study of Political Graphics. Reel to Real features posters that use well-known movie themes and imagery to tackle ongoing struggles for social change at home and abroad. They employ satire, mockery and various devices to draw attention to current issues. Some are amusing while others are outrageous, and all provide an offbeat alternative view of reality. In addition, Los Angeles's unique relationship to the entertainment world makes this exhibition one of the most unusual in the repertory of the Center for the Study of Political Graphics. |
