Su-Chen Hung: The Red Sea Series

August 23 - September 25, 2004

Opening Reception: Friday, August 27, 7-9pm

Gallery Talk: Monday, August 30, 10am

Originally from Taiwan, San Francisco artist Su-Chen Hung has created site-specific art for the past decade.  In her latest series, Red Sea, Ms. Hung incorporates literally miles of red thread in both wall and floor installations as well as sculptures.  In Chinese culture, red is associated with luck and good blessings; Ms. Hung uses it here as part of a contemporary tribute to ancient traditions of sewing with needle and thread.  All of the works in this exhibition are new, premiering at CSUN.
