New
York Life is sponsoring this extraodinary traveling exhibition that
features the paintings of Johnnie Lee Gray, a self-taught artist from
South Carolina. This major national exhibition traveling from New York,
Chicago, Atlanta and on to CSU Northridge is a distinctive collection
of paintings depicting African-American life during the last years of
segregation in the South.
Curated
by Dr. Gwendolyn Everett, art historian at Howard University, the exhibition
at CSUN is a co-operation between Professor Ron Davis of the CSUN
History Dept and the CSUN Art Galleries.
