Earthlinks: Africa/China

In his travels to eastern China in 1998 and southern Africa in 1999, photographer Alan Weissman (www.alanweissman.com) was struck by the contrasts between the traditional and contemporary worlds offered by both regions. In this exhibition the artist's photographs simultaneously pay tribute to the uniqueness of each culture as well as to the universality of the impact of change. Mr. Weissman is well known for his portrait studies of media dignitaries, with his work appearing in a wide range of publications and on television.
