Valley Vista: Art in the San Fernando Valley, ca. 1970-1990 examines for the first time the unique contribution of the San Fernando Valley to Los Angeles’ art history.
Curated by Professor Damon Willick of Loyola Marymount, the exhibition and its accompanying catalog look beyond the stereotypes of the Valley as little more than a suburban cultural wasteland, and, instead, offer an alternative narrative documenting the Valley’s unrecognized yet substantial role in LA’s emergence as a center of contemporary art activity.
Eighteenth Annual High School Invitational exhibition
January 12 – 31, 2015
Reception: Friday, January 30, 2015 from 7-9pm.
The Eighteenth Annual High School Invitational exhibition will be held January 12 – 31, 2015 in our Main Gallery. As we did last year, due to many high schools and CSUN’s class schedules, we have scheduled the reception on Friday, January 30st from 7-9pm.
Eligibility: There are no changes in our eligibility or submittal requirements this year. All schools must be within the official boundaries of the San Fernando Valley, (California legislative Bill Number AB 2207 approved by legislature and governor in 2004) and of the SFV division of Los Angeles Unified School District. As the number of participants continues to increase, we must limit participation to those who are located within the above-defined area. Each school may invite up to SIX students to submit one work per student. Please coordinate the selection of students from your school with the other art instructors; the gallery cannot make selections. Only works done during the spring or fall terms of 2014 will be eligible. All media are eligible, including but not limited to, painting, mural design, sculpture, ceramics, wood, textiles, film/video, industrial design, graphic design, photography, jewelry and mixed media. Compilations of video works on DVD (individual works not to exceed 3 minutes) will qualify as one entry, as will single works done collaboratively by a group of students. Our exhibition space will accommodate approximately 200 -240 works, depending on the size of works submitted.

Sixth Annual High School Teachers Art Exhibition
January 12 – 31, 2015
For the fifth year in a row, we will be inviting high school teachers this year to have artwork displayed during the run of our 18th Annual High School Student Art Invitational. As with last year, the 5th Annual High School Teacher Art Invitational will be on view in the West Gallery, which is off the Main Gallery lobby.
We will accept up to two works per school and one work per teacher. Based on previous year’s participation this will fill the West Gallery, perhaps hung salon style. The work should have been completed within the last three years (2011 -2014). Please adhere to the submittal requirements that are in place for your students. If your school is interested in selecting 2 teachers to represent your school, please fill out the teachers submittal form and either email or fax to the address or fax number below. Delivery and drop off dates are the same dates and times as your student’s works.
