DEGREES OFFERED
MASTER OF ARTS (MA)
The MA in Art is an advanced degree for specialization in art education, art history, studio art, and visual communication, requiring a minimum of 30 units. Students accepted into the program are expected to be registered full time, taking a minimum of 9 units per semester. The areas of specialization are as follows:
> ART EDUCATION
> ART HISTORY
> STUDIO ART OPTION:
CERAMICS, PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHY, PRINTMAKING, PUBLIC ART, SCULPTURE & VIDEO/DIGITAL ART
> VISUAL COMMUNICATION OPTION:
PHOTOGRAPHY, ILLUSTRATION & VIDEO/DIGITAL ART
MASTER OF FINE ARTS (MFA)
The MFA in Art is the highest attainable degree in studio art or visual communication requiring a minimum of 60 units. Students accepted into the program are expected to be registered full time, taking a minimum of 12 units each semester, and have completed all requirements for Classified Graduate Status before entering the MFA program. The areas of specialization are as follows:
> STUDIO ART OPTION:
CERAMICS, PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHY, PRINTMAKING, PUBLIC ART, SCULPTURE & VIDEO/DIGITAL ART
> VISUAL COMMUNICATION OPTION:
GRAPHIC DESIGN, PHOTOGRAPHY, ILLUSTRATION & VIDEO/DIGITAL ART
