STUDENT SPOTLIGHT :

TIFFANY OLAY

Tiffany Olay
BA
Emphasis: Graphic Design

Having always had an interest in art, but never knowing exactly what to do with it, Tiffany feels that she has found her niche in the field of design. She finds that this profession provides her with the opportunity to become a more well-rounded individual because it allows her to continue learning about…well, everything. Meaning, anything necessary to arrive at the best possible design solution.

“I have to solve problems creatively in a visual manner by putting myself in the mindset of my audience; I have to keep in mind that whatever I do can potentially have an effect on people. Finding the most effective way to communicate a message to that audience is both challenging and exciting.” In addition to design, Tiffany also took courses in illustration. She is inspired by illustrators that design and designers that illustrate, tending to gravitate towards work that is of a visceral nature. Her high appreciation of drawing, printmaking, and other hand-done arts is largely influential on her aesthetics.

Tiffany credits much of her success to the guidance and encouragement of the design and illustration faculty, as well as her friends and colleagues at The Cannery (where she served as an intern), The Design Factory, and 410Viscom. All of these people and experiences have been extremely fun and rewarding, and have ultimately helped shape her into the artist/person she is today.

At this point, Tiffany is open to where she will eventually end up in her career. She is grateful to be involved in design at a time when the field is ever growing and evolving, meaning she feels that she is not limited to just being a designer. Whether she ends up as an art director, professor, rock star, or even working on a farm somewhere, she just wants to do what makes her most happy (while maybe also saving the world at the same time).
