I entered the MFA program at CSUN with a desire to explore my artistic voice in depth through the rigors of an academic program.  I'd been a professional artist for many years prior to enrolling at CSUN but had felt that I needed to make some changes in my career.  In addition to examining my own work, I also wanted to teach.  The MFA program has given me the opportunity to teach foundation Drawing courses and I have enjoyed working with students tremendously.  My experience here at CSUN has been exactly what I hoped for: challenging, inspiring, enlightening and satisfying.  I look forward to continuing my career as an artist, utilizing the newfound insights I've learned about my methods and motivations, while simultaneously working with students in the classroom.

My work expresses the fragility of life and an anxiety born out of a creeping communal and personal sense of malaise.  Greed, aggression, spiritual and cultural intolerance, continued threats of atomic annihilation, acceleration of waste and pollution, scientific discoveries that challenge our notions of reality, gender, and the definition life; these topics and more are affecting all of us.  We live in a confusing and unstable world.  This work represents reflections on the human condition influenced by intimate experiences of loss and helplessness and are poetic expressions of whispered angst with a yearning for transformation.
