ARTS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP (Undergraduate)
_Application Form (PDF)

Qualifications:
Achievement of at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Students must be enrolled for the following Fall semester. The award funds will be deposited directly into the recipient’s CSUN student financial account.

Requirements:
Nominations must be signed by the nominating faculty member on the Scholarship Application form and submitted with in the department office with an art-related resume (include achievements and art-affiliated involvement, exhibitions, awards, internships, and community service learning), 6 slides or prints of work, artist statement or narrative description of artwork, and one letter of recommendation. Please note: Scholarship Committee members may not write letters.

Amount: Determined by Arts Council budget each year

Deadline:
March 24, 2008

Awards presented at the CSUN Arts Council Awards ceremony and reception in May. Time and location to be determined.

HANS G. BURKHARDT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Qualifications:
One award(s) available for Junior, Senior or Graduate students working in printmaking, painting or drawing. Award recipient has demonstrated to be an outstanding student, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and outstanding quality of work.

Requirements:
Scholarship Application form, 6 slides or prints of work, artist statement, resume, and one letter of recommendation submitted to the art department office. Please note: Scholarship Committee members may not write letters.

Amount:
Three $500 awards

DEAN'S RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Qualifications:
The Art Department will select three students as recipients of the Dean’s Recognition Program.

Requirements:
Minimum 3.0 overall GPA. Scholarship Application form, 6 slides or prints of work, artist statement, resume, and one letter of recommendation submitted to the art department office. Please note: Scholarship Committee members may not write letters.

Amount:
Two undergraduate and one graduate awards of $500

BELA KASZA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Qualifications:
Classified graduate student pursuing a Master’s Degree in Art Education. Award recipient has demonstrated to be an outstanding student with a strong commitment to teaching. Student must have a financial need and be enrolled for the following fall semester.

Requirements:
Nominations must be signed by the nominating faculty member on the Scholarship Application form and submitted with a brief outline of the student’s achievements and art-affiliated involvements in the department office.

$200

LEYO LOPEZ MEMORIAL AWARD

Qualifications: Undergraduate or Graduate student working in graphic design/digital media. Award recipient has demonstrated to be an outstanding student with financial need, minimum 3.0 GPA and quality work.

Requirements: Scholarship Application form, 6 images of work on CD, and two letters of recommendation submitted to the art department office. Award will be presented at the Annual Student Art Exhibit Opening, Friday, May 4th.

IRVING BLOCK MEMORIAL AWARD

Qualifications: Graduate or undergraduate student working in drawing and/or painting media. Award recipient has demonstrated to be an outstanding student with financial need, minimum 3.0 GPA and quality work.


Requirements: Scholarship Application form, 6 images of work on CD, and two letters of recommendation submitted to the art department office. Award will be presented at the Annual Student Art Exhibit Opening, Friday, May 4th.

ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED FACULTY MEMORIAL AWARD

Note: This award is not sponsored by the Department of Art

The purpose of this award is to recognize and provide financial support to graduate students for excellent scholarship and creative activity. Three awards of $1,500 each will be made to support ongoing projects that are part of a master’s degree. Award criteria include a research project description, two faculty letters of recommendation and a willingness to provide a brief presentation of the project at the ARF annual brunch on May 17, 2008. Applications are due in the office of Graduate Studies March 21, 2008.

EDWIN R. SIEVERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Qualifications:
Junior, Senior, or Graduate student working in Photography. Award recipient has demonstrated to be an outstanding student with a minimum, cumulative 3.0 GPA and outstanding quality work.

Requirements:
Scholarship Application Form, 10 to 15 prints of work in a portfolio, artist statement, and an art-related resume submitted to the Art Department office. Please note: Scholarship Committee members may not write letters.

VALERIE & STEVEN SVEC 3D/CERAMICS SCHOLARSHIP

Achievement of at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and outstanding work in Ceramics or 3D media.

Requirements:
Nominations must be signed by the nominating faculty member on the Scholarship Application form and submitted in the Department Office with a brief outline of the student’s statement of achievements and art-affiliated involvement, and accompanied by 6 slides or prints of work, and one faculty letter of recommendation. Award to be presented at the Annual Student Art Exhibit Opening in May


NATHAN O FREEDMAN MEMORIAL AWARD
formerly the President's Associates Outstanding Graduate Student Award ($1,000)

This annual award is presented to an outstanding graduate student who will complete the Master's degree requirements by June of every year. To be eligible, a student must have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and made a significant contribution to their field of study. Please submit a current resume, and two faculty letters of recommendation outlining the student's contributions to the academic field.

Only two letters will be accepted.

Amount: $1000
