APRIL 20, 2006 @ 2PM
LOCATION: AC 606 PAINT STUDIO
The California State University, Northridge, Department of Art, is pleased to welcome Tom S. Fricano, Professor Emeritus of California State University, Northridge, as the Spring 2006 Hans Burkhardt Honorary Speaker. Tom’s distinguished career includes a 1960-61 Fulbright Grant, a 1965 Tiffany Research Grant, and a 1969-70 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship. He has an extensive exhibition history both in the United States, and Europe, beginning in the 1960’s and continuing to present day. In looking at Toms work, it becomes readily apparent that he is a master of many mediums, painting, printmaking, papermaking, collage, and assemblage to name a few. To quote artist Marvin Hardin, “His oeuvre is large and varied. His work, in general, is marked by experimentation and inventive spirit: the visual results are exciting and seductive.” It is with great pleasure that we announce his lecture, which will be held on April 20, 2006, at 2:00 pm in AC 606. (Painting Studio).
