STUDENT SPOTLIGHT :
MONA KASRA

enriched
CSUN West Gallery
November 2005

With a Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design, Mona attended CSUN Art Department to pursue her Master of Fine Arts Degree concentrating in Video Digital. Four years later, and after finishing all the requirements, she believes that CSUN gave her the chance to establish her path as an artist and as an educator. “The Program,” she says, “has developed my academic and artistic career, provided me with alternative perspectives, and strengthened my abilities. The faculties are knowledgeable and have a variety of interests. Fellow students are from wide range of backgrounds and experiences and the existing close relationship among the students and faculty enriches the graduate studies experience.”

Mona loves making art and she is passionate about teaching. As a MFA candidate, she has taught Introductory courses in Digital Art, and worked as an undergraduate peer advisor at the Art Department. Mona’s videos have been displayed in a few exhibitions and festivals around Los Angeles and for the past few years, she herself has organized an open video festival in the Art department courtyard to construct a vibrant space. The festival called “video walk” brought together many different members of CSUN community and created a dialogue for video art students.

In November 2005, Mona exhibited her graduate show “enriched” at the CSUN West Gallery.
Read the Sundial article about the enriched exhibition.

She is currently a member of Gallery 825  “Film&Video” subcommittee and is now collaborating with Collage Ensemble Inc. on an inter-disciplinary arts project that has to do with inter-ethnicity in Los Angeles using food as a metaphor. [link]
