Introduction
To check the status of your admission application to California State University, Northridge (CSUN), use the online View Application Status pages. The pages not only display updates to your application status but also list the required documents, fees, and/or test scores that may be missing from your file. Because your application status will change over time, check these pages regularly.
You can use View Application Status after you’ve applied to CSUN, received your “Activate CSUN User ID and Password” letter from the Office of Admissions and Records, and set up your account.
For account activation instructions, visit the Information Technology Help Desk
Step 1
Using Internet Explorer browser version 6 or higher, log into myNorthridge at www.csun.edu with your CSUN User ID and Password.
Step 2
Your myNorthridge page displays. In the box My Path to Graduation (upper left), click the View Application Status link.
Alternatively, you can select the Applicant tab.
Step 3
The Applicant tab focuses your choices. Click the View Application Status link.
Step 4
The View Application Status Summary page displays your application information, including:
- the term you applied for
- your academic career and level
- application status
- application date
- your academic plan or major
If the Missing Docs/Tests field displays Yes, click the Detail link to see what’s missing.

Step 5
The Detail page displays the following sections:
Personal Data - Click the links to update your contact information.
Application Data - Includes your residency status:
- Resident - Both a U.S. and California resident
- Nonresident - A U.S. resident but not a California resident
- Foreign - Neither a U.S. nor a California resident
Missing Information - Lists items that you still need to submit in three fields:
- Document or Fee
- High School Transcripts
- College Transcripts
Required Tests - Shows whether or not the Entry Level Math Test (ELM) and English Placement Test (EPT) requirements have been met.
IMPORTANT! If you see any discrepancies, contact Admissions and Records.

Step 6
In this Detail page example, transcripts are missing from all four schools the student has reported attending.
Preliminary Transcript - Means that CSUN has received a transcript showing work in progress. When the coursework is finished, the student must ask each school to send CSUN a final, official transcript.
NOTE: Your final high school transcript must have the graduation date posted.
No Transcript Received - Means that CSUN has not yet received any transcripts from the school. Ask each school to send preliminary (work in progress) and/or final transcripts.
REMINDER: Send all official transcripts, preliminary or final, to Admissions and Records, California State University, Northridge; 18111 Nordhoff Street, Northridge, CA 91330-8207

Step 7
The high school and college transcript rows display even when they are blank. A blank transcript row can have three meanings:
- Your final transcript has been received and nothing more is needed,
- You did not report attending a school on your CSUN application, or
- Your high school transcript is not required because you are a college junior, senior or graduate student.
NOTE: Be sure to tell CSUN to expect transcripts from all the relevant schools you have attended. If you did not report a school on your CSU application, CSUN will not know the transcript is missing.

Step 8
The Document or Fee field displays only when items are missing. (The field disappears when requirements are met, as shown in Step 6.)
In this image, the Document or Fee field displays the checklist for required but missing documents and tests for International Students on J-1 or F-1 Visas. Note that the TOEFL requirement is listed here.

Step 9
Here’s another example of a missing Document or Fee. A previously disqualified student is applying for readmission to CSUN and needs to complete and send in the Previously Disqualified Student Questionnaire (undergraduate students) or Readmission/Reinstatement of Disqualified Graduate/Credential Student form.
(The Document or Fee field can also display the Missing Application Fee notice, as shown in Step 10.)

Step 10
The Required Tests field only displays information about the Entry Level Math Test (ELM) and English Placement Test (EPT). If ELM or EPT are listed, either CSUN has not received your test scores or you have not otherwise met the ELM and EPT requirements.
To schedule the ELM and EPT tests, visit the ETS Website or the CSUN Testing Center.
For other tests, including ACT or SAT, the testing service will send your score to CSUN and to you if you requested it on the test application.
- TOEFL - Reported under Missing Information - Documents and Fees. See Step 8 above.
- Chemistry Placement Test (CPT) and Math Placement Test (MPT) - Log into myNorthridge at www.csun.edu with your CSUN User ID and Password. Then navigate to the Student Center (SOLAR) > Academics > View My Test Scores.
NOTE: If you have met the ELM and EPT requirements, the Required Tests field displays NONE.
