Introduction
Cal State Northridge students, as well as the general public, can search and browse the Schedule of Classes using Class Search at any time.
Class Search allows students and guests to:
- Browse the Schedule of Classes at any time
- Search by Additional Category (e.g., GE courses, online courses)
- Search for Open classes only
- View assigned textbooks
- View the class exam schedule
Class Search has three main parts:
- Search page to enter your selection criteria
- Course Results page to view courses matching your criteria
- Class Details page to view specific section requirements and class notes

Step 1
Ways to access Class Search from the CSUN home page at www.csun.edu:
1. If you have a CSUN account, log into myNorthridge with your CSUN User ID and Password.
- Students: On the myNorthridge Academics tab in the Quick Links box, select the Search for Classes icon.
- Faculty or Staff: Click Class Search in the Student Administration box.
2. If you are a guest, click the Class Search link from the Quick Links drop down menu and click "Go." No login is required.
Access Class Search directly at www.csun.edu/class-search.

Step 2
The Class Search page displays four fields:
- *Term
- *Session
- Subject/Department
- Additional Category
In addition to the required fields, you must also select a Subject or Additional Category or both.

Step 3
From the required *Term drop down menu, select a term.
You can view a "tentative" Schedule of Classes several months before a term begins. By the time registration begins, the schedule is firm and further changes are limited.

Step 4
From the required *Session drop down menu, select a session:
- Select Regular to view courses for matriculated CSUN students and non-matriculated Open University students.
- Select The Tseng College - Credit to view credit courses in degree and certificate programs offered through extension.
- Select The Tseng College - Non Credit to view extension courses available for Continuing Education Units or no credit.

Step 5
To view all courses offered by a department for the selected term, choose a subject from the Subject/Department drop down menu.
We've selected Biology (BIOL) in this example.

Step 6
You can further narrow your search by selecting an Additional Category:
- Accelerated and PACE
- Community Service Learning
- Developmental Math
- Developmental Reading
- Developmental Writing
- Experimental & Selected Topics
- Freshman Connection
- Freshman Reading & Writing
- GE Plan C
- GE Plan R
- Online*
- UNIV 60 - Supplemental Instruction
*To view courses in all departments for an Additional Category, leave the Subject/Department blank.
Click Quick Search to view results.

Step 7
The Search Results page displays the Course List.
An icon legend explains features and navigation.
If the Show Open Classes Only box is checked, the Course List displays only those class sections that are available for enrollment.
If the Show Open Classes Only box is unchecked, the Course List displays all scheduled sections, including closed (full) and canceled classes.

Step 8
Click the Expand Icon to view the Class Section List for a course.

Note: To sort a column, click its heading.
Click the Detail icon to view class section specific information.
To print, click the Print This Page icon.

Step 9
The Class Detail page displays. Class Detail Features:
- Textbooks (link)
- Class Information
- Meeting Information
- Final Exam
- Enrollment Information
- Notes*
- Course Information*
*Check Class Notes and the Course Description for course requisites. Is concurrent enrollment in another course required?
To start a new search, click Return to go back to the previous page, and then click the Reset button.
