Freshman Common Reading Faculty/Staff Book Groups

Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich has been chosen as the 2008-09 Freshman Common Reading at CSUN. Ehrenreich will be the keynote speaker at Freshman Convocation on Thursday, September 4, 2008.

Faculty, staff, and administrators who would like to read Nickel and Dimed may request a free copy by calling x6535 (Academic First Year Experiences, CIELO).

Faculty and staff may also participate in a Nickel and Dimed book group. Academic First Year Experiences will provide a copy of the book to each book group participant.

Please note that there are three different book groups available. The Wednesday and Thursday book groups will meet for four one-hour sessions; the Monday book group will meet for two one-hour sessions. Participants should plan to attend all meetings in the series they have chosen.
