The Department of Academic Resources and Planning is comprised of professional staff whose primary functions include budget planning and management, institutional research, academic space planning and room reservations.
The Academic Resources and Planning team prepares and monitors the annual budget for the division of Academic Affairs, works with the colleges to develop annual enrollment targets, manages divisional contingency funds, ensures fiscal solvency of the division, prepares financial reports for and manages the accounts of units within Academic Affairs Administration, coordinates academic space planning, assists the Provost with staff human resources functions, ensures compliance with fiscal and human resources policies and procedures, assists with development of new financial and human resources systems, and acts as liaison with the division of Administration and Finance. The team also coordinates the activities of the Academic Resources Council and the University Financial Analysts Group. The Associate Vice President for Academic Resources provides administrative leadership to the Educational Resources Commitee of the Faculty Senate ("ERC").
The Institutional Research (IR) team provides management information and analytical support to University decision-makers. The information is used in planning and policy decisions and is based on University data such as student enrollment, academic performance, faculty workload, and class schedules. The team utilizes external sources such as census, demographic, and marketing data in local, regional, and national scopes. Both historical and current information are combined to analyze and interpret patterrns of past and emerging trends. Additional responsibilities of the team include student evaluations of faculty and maintenance of curriculum in student administrative systems.
The Room Reservations desk manages 201 open lecture rooms, two Conference rooms in University Hall and the Whitsett Room.
