The following page is a one column layout with a header that contains a quicklinks jump menu and the search CSUN function. Page sections are identified with headers. The footer contains update, contact and emergency information.

View Holds

This is a tutorial only. No log in is required.


Holds are “indicators” on your student record that require your attention and action. There are many kinds of holds, from “advisement” to “undecided major.”

For example, an Advisement Hold means that you must meet with your academic advisor before enrolling in classes. Some holds, called Registration Holds, block enrollment in classes.

Check for holds occasionally in order to clear them. You can view holds online in two locations:

  1. Registration holds only – in My Checklist
  2. All holds - In the SOLAR Student Center

Navigation to these two locations is easy. Read on.

Step 1

Log into myNorthridge at www.csun.edu with your CSUN User ID and Password.

Step 2

My Checklist displays in the center column.

Registration holds are listed in the Incomplete Tasks section (#1 in the image).

This student has 3 registration holds for Fall 2010. Rest your mouse and cursor over each hold message to view details.

Important! Only registration holds display in My Checklist. To view all holds, select the Student Center (SOLAR) link in the box My Path to Graduation (#2 in the image).

Step 3

You can view all holds in the Student Center (SOLAR).

The Holds box (far right) lists your holds. If no holds have been placed on your record, the words No Holds display.

Click the details link.

Step 4

The Hold Items table displays hold links, amount owed if any, institution, term and department.

Notes: The institution, term and department columns can be filtered using the fields above the table. Filtering is not necessary in most cases. Filter fields display only when two or more holds have been placed on the record.

Click a Hold Item link to view the reason, contact information, and instructions to clear the hold.

Step 5

The Hold Item page displays the reason, contact information, and instructions to clear the hold.

Click Return to go back to the Hold Items list.

Step 6

Click another hold link or return to the Student Center.

From the drop down menu, select Student Center and click the GO screen shot of the GO button  button.
