• The Women's Studies (WS) Department has a new name: Gender and Women's Studies (GWS).
• Queer Studies (QS) is a new interdisciplinary Minor in the College of Humanities.

Purpose of the Enrollment Guide

The purpose of the Schedule of Classes (SOC) Enrollment Guide is to:

• Supply a partial list of classes scheduled for the upcoming term, including GE courses
• Advise you of current deadlines, fee information, testing schedules, and effective enrollment preparation practices
• Summarize academic policies pertaining to enrollment

This guide is not a substitute for the university catalog. California State University, Northridge has made reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of the information throughout this Web site at the time of publication. All information including statements of fees, course offerings and instructor assignments are subject to change without notice or obligation.

Where to Search for Classes

CSUN offers four ways to view class schedule information:

1. Class Search in SOLAR - Log into the myNorthridge Portal at www.csun.edu (top right corner) and in the My Path to Graduation box, click Class Search.
2. Guest SOLAR Class Search - Guests may view CSUN course offerings here. No login is required.
3. Open Classes Report (PDF) - Use to view a list of open, unrestricted classes with available seats. Refreshed every 30 minutes. The Fall 2008 report is available beginning July 14, 2008.
4. Class Schedules - Use to view or download class schedules in PDF or Word files. The files are static but refreshed periodically. Although convenient for viewing and printing, they are not as up-to-date as SOLAR Class Search.

You may use the static Class Schedule files for convenient viewing and printing to plan a tentative schedule. Always cross-check your tentative schedule with the dynamic, up-to-the-minute Class Search in SOLAR.
