Specialist Credentials
Specialist Credentials authorize specific services to students in an area of specialization.
Applicants may enter either Fall or Spring semester.
Some are dependent upon holding a prerequisite credential.
Adapted Physical Education
This credential holder provides specialized and adapted physical education services in K-12 settings. Prerequisite credential is one which authorizes the teaching of Physical Education.
Reading Specialist
This credential holder provides Reading assessment services in public schools. He/She serves as a literacy leader and may provide mentor services, staff development and other literacy services. Prerequisite credential is a Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist.
Reading Certificate
This certificate authorizes the holder to assess student reading and provide reading instruction in response to those assessments in classrooms in which their prerequisite credential authorizes them to teach in. Prerequisite credential is a Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist.
CTEL/CLAD Certificate
This certificate authorizes the holder to provide services to English Learners. Prerequisite credential is a Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Education Specialist.
