Industrial Hygiene Option

Bachelor of Science - Industrial Hygiene

Graduates with a BS in Environmental and Occupational Health (Industrial Hygiene Option) are prepared for entry level work in positions such as industrial hygiene, hazardous waste management, environmental compliance and a variety of similar positions.  The BS - Industrial Hygiene degree is accredited by the Applied Sciences Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology , 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202 - telephone (410) 347-7700.

 

 

Required courses are identical to the core requirements of the general Environmental and Occupational Health Science degree plus the following classes:

Occupational Safety (EOH 465)

Evaluating the Occupational Environment (EOH 466B with Lab)

Controlling the Occupational Environment (EOH 466C)

In addition, students must select 2 additional courses from the following course list:

Hazardous Materials and Waste Management (EOH 459)

Radiological Health (EOH 467)

Air Pollution and Health (EOH 468)

Environmental and Occupational Risk Analysis (EOH 469)

Environmental and Occupational Health Epidemiology (EOH 560)

Occupational Safety Seminar (EOH 565)

Occupational Ergonomics (EOH 570)

Master of Science - Industrial Hygiene

Graduates with the MS in Environmental Health and Occupational Health (Industrial Hygiene Option) are prepared to enter the field of Industrial Hygiene, concentrating on such areas as basic industrial hygiene, occupational safety, hazardous waste management, occupational health training, regulatory compliance, work site inspections and similar fields.

Core requirements are identical to those required for the MS-Environmental and Occupational Health. Graduate level seminar courses must involve presentations and research in the field of occupational health. Students are required to take EOH 466B/L (Evaluating the Occupational Environment), EOH 466C (Controlling the Occupational Environment), and EOH 465 (Occupational Safety). One additional elective from the following course list must be taken as well.

EOH 565 Occupational Safety Seminar

EOH 570 Occupational Ergonomics

MS-Environmental and Occupational Health (Industrial Hygiene Option) students who select the comprehensive examination capstone experience must be tested on subject matter from the core classes: EOH 356A, EOH 356B, EOH 466A, EOH 466B, EOH 466C, and EOH 465, in addition to any other testing requirements.
