Welcome to the Michael D. Eisner College of Education!

Greetings from our faculty, students, and staff. As we enter the 50th anniversary of the University, we celebrate our past accomplishments and look forward to an equally promising future.
From our beginning as San Fernando Valley State College in 1958, to our official renaming as California State University, Northridge in 1972, we have always served the local community by preparing the highest quality professionals, including teachers, counselors, school psychologists, administrators, and marriage and family therapists, to name a few. We are extremely proud of our faculty, staff, and students; their collective efforts have positively impacted the lives of thousands of families throughout our region.
With an overarching commitment to innovation, we assert that our College is ultimately responsible for preparing ethical and caring professionals who value: academic excellence in the acquisition of professional knowledge and skills; using evidence to monitor and guide personal growth, determine impact of our programs, and inform ongoing program renewal; collaborative partnerships with community members—both internal and external to the University; learning about and addressing the varied strengths, interests, and needs of communities of diverse learners; and engaging in creative and reflective thinking and practice.
I encourage you to visit with us on a regular basis—either online or in person—as we embark on the next 50 years of ensuring life-changing opportunities for our students and those they serve. We will be sharing exciting new programs with you such as our first stand alone doctoral program in educational leadership, set to launch this year!
Michael E. Spagna, Dean of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education
