ResearchThe Communicating Common Ground project provides a site where CSUN students in the Communication Studies 356 Intercultural Communication and the Communication Studies 656 Graduate Seminar can actively apply concepts and theories from the course they are taking in empowering and socially responsible ways. Our engagement with serious social issues and innovative pedagogy at Grant High School has led to numerous scholarly opportunities. We have presented on panels at three national level conferences, the National Communication Association in 2001 and 2002 and at the Association of American Colleges and Universities in 2002 and at three regional conferences--the Western States Communication Association, Azusa Pacific University’s Service Learning Institute, the CSU Academic Conference, as well as on various occasions at CSUN.PublicationsSorrells, K.
