I joined the CSUN Speech & Debate team in Spring 1998 while taking Anna Johnson's SPC 225: Strategies in Argumentation. That semester my partner Kathy and I took 1st Place in parliamentary Debate (Rookie Div.) at the PSCFA Cool-Off. Over the next 2 years I commonly paired up with my favorite partner Meredith for Parliamentary Debate, and I also frequently competed in Impromptu and Extemporaneous speaking. I served as Team President from Spring 1999 to Spring 2000. I received the Donald Cameron Award and a Coach's Award in 1999.

My CSUN Speech & Debate coaches and graduate assistants were Bill Sheffield, Neil ?, Anna Johnson, Jacob Witt, and Edwin Tiongson.

While on the team, I remember traveling to a summer Debate Camp at Willamette University in Oregon and to many tournaments throughout southern California. My fondest memories will always be the utterly complete mental and physical exhaustion at the end of a good 3-day tournament.

I left the Speech and Debate team in early 2000 to focus on my undergraduate degree in Geological Sciences at CSUN.

I've recently returned to school to pursue a graduate degree, and I'll be graduating from Univ of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a Masters Degree in Geological Sciences in Winter 2008. I'll be returning to California in Spring 2009, when I will begin my PhD in Geology at Univ of California, Davis.
