
Asian American Studies is a multidisciplinary field that analyzes the experience and contributions of people of Asian ancestry in the United States. Students can expect to gain an appreciation for the diversity and complexities of this experience and to be able to apply their knowledge to issues in the social sciences, humanities, education, business, and other related fields.

History of AAS at CSUN
As one of only four departments dedicated to Asian American Studies in the United States, the history of AAS at CSUN is unique and owes much to the leadership and vision of Kenyon Chan. The history of the department began with a single course on the Asian American experience in the Anthropology department.
