General Information

M. Helena Noronha joined the CSUN faculty in 1990, where she became a Full Professor in 1997. She earned her Ph.D. degree from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil in 1983. She came to the U.S. in 1986 and subsequently was a Visting Researcher at UCSB, UCSD, and UCLA before joining the CSUN faculty. She served as Program Director for Topology and Geometric Analysis program of the Division of Mathematical Sciences at the National Science Foundation from 2000 through 2002 and from 2009 through 2011 and as Department Chair from 2006 through 2008.

Research Interests

Field: Differential Geometry with interests in manifolds with nonnegative curvature, homogeneous manifolds, conformal structures, Kaehler manifolds and isometric immersions of such manifolds in Euclidean spaces. Recently, I have been interested in Soliton Theory and its applications to submanifold geometry.
