Fig. 5. This photomicrograph is from a peraluminous two-mica granite near Niles Lake, Washington (USA). It shows wartlike myrmekite (center) projecting into microcline (grid-twinning, bottom left) in which the maximum sizes of quartz vermicules are also relatively thick. Bright colored grains are muscovite; biotite is brown; quartz is clear white and gray. Calcic diorite and gabbro, containing plagioclase An45-60, occur adjacent to the granite, but I did not observe their contacts with the granite.
