Opportunities for Science Teachers
Scholarships
- Robert Noyce Scholarship -The Noyce Scholar Program is for junior and senior mathematics or science majors and single subject science and math Credential students who are preparing to become secondary teachers and have GPAs of at least 2.8 in in the last 30 semester units. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $7,500 each year for up to 2 years. All scholars will participate in an ongoing Noyce Seminar at CSUN. Scholars must agree to teach for two years in a high-need school district for each year of scholarship support.
- EnCorps - The Governor’s EnCorps Teachers Program is an innovative public-private partnership dedicated to increasing the number of much needed math and science teachers in California’s public middle and high schools. We recruit retiring math and science professionals through their California employers.
- Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE) for CSU Students - The Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE) is a teacher incentive program designed to encourage students to become California teachers in a range of critical teacher shortage areas and in several types of high need schools. Administered by the California Student Aid Commission, the program assumes up to $19,000 in outstanding educational loan balances in return for four consecutive years of qualifying teaching service.
- Boeing Scholarship - Three (3) $2,500 scholarships are available to qualified individuals entering the Single Subject Credential Program in Mathematics or Science offered by the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.
- Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Scholarship - Two (2) $2,500 scholarships are available to qualified individuals entering the Single Subject Credential Program in Mathematics or Science offered by the Michael D. Eisner College of Education

Enrichment / In-Service
- California Science Project - San Fernando Valley Science Project (SFVSP), is a collaborative partnership between the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and California State University, Northridge. The SFVSP holds Summer Institutes and monthly workshops with leadership from university instructors, teacher leaders and master teachers.
- Science Teacher and Researcher - The California State University in partnership with Department of Energy national research laboratories and the NASA Ames Research Center is announcing the 2008 Science Teacher and Researcher (STAR) pre-service science teacher summer research program.
- SCALE - The SCALE partnership at CSUN provides week-long summer institutes to train teachers in the use of science immersion units.
