Service Opportunity
This
seminar examines theories of intergroup relations and their application in
field settings, as well as principles of intergroup conflict mediation and
their use. The focus is on reducing prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination.
Students apply the theories and principles in supervised service or research
internships and complete an approved community-based project report. |

Student Scholars
We are proud
to announce the launching of our new Service-Learning
Student Scholars program. This program provides stipends
to upper division or graduate students to assist service-learning
faculty with logistics and reflection in their service-learning
classes and receive weekly student leadership training. |

Kicks-Off Justice Corps Program
California
is experiencing an explosion in the number of
individuals appearing in court without
legal representation
on a variety of matters from family law to housing
issues. The majority of these individuals are not obtaining professional
help because they cannot afford it. |

Funding Opportunities
The
Center for Community Service-Learning and the Interdisciplinary
Gerontology Program at California State University,
Northridge have been awarded a $45,000 grant from
Temple University to implement Project SHINE (Students
Helping in the Naturalization of Elders) |

Pays for Student TB Tests
Our office has been awarded $3,000 in Instructionally Related
Activity (IRA) funds from Associated Students. The award
is the result of a grant request written in an effort to
offset the new $5 fee charged at the Student Health Center
(SHC) for TB testing. |

Management
The new Risk
Management in Service-Learning binder is now available. The
binder is a collaborative effort with our Insurance and Risk
Management Department, and features the best practices as
suggested by the CSU Chancellor's Office. |
