About
Community Service-Learning
The Center
for Community Service-Learning (CSL) at California State
University, Northridge (CSUN), established in 1998,
was created to inspire, encourage and support students
and faculty in their pursuit of academic excellence through
involvement in meaningful community service that is linked
to explicit learning objectives, preparation and reflection.
CSUN
students in approximately 60 classes now perform a wide
variety of education, outreach activities, direct aid,
or public policy analysis and research for the benefit
of their
community. For example, English, art and biology students
work to supplement public schools with academic and enrichment
programs; health science students conduct health fairs
and test homes for environmental hazards; and sociology,
consumer
science, journalism, and computer science students help
troubled teens to learn academic and life skills. For more
information
