Visit Rome

Rome - Italy's capital

Rome is a witness of the changing times. It is a city which has seen both glory and faced disgrace number of times in history. It was once virtually capital of half of the world. It was the seat of the mighty Roman empire which one ruled nearly full Europe and Middle East. It this place where the mighty Emperor Julius Caesar ruled. Roman empire is long back destroyed and Italy too is not leader of world but Rome is the one of the undisputed symbols of human history. Today it also holds the Vatican, where the Pope lives, and is the primary hub for Catholicism on the planet.

Rome's Collosseum

Rome has always had a huge influence on the history of the world - one can never speak of Rome without mentioning the Collosseum - an ancient Roman stadium where the powerful Gladiators engaged in a fight to death duels. These fights were the symbol of the riches of the Roman empire and were used to tell Romans how might and powerful their rulers were. No one visiting Rome for whatever number of days should miss this landmark. Apart from this landmark, Rome has number of museums and other historical spots. Each spot will tell you a piece of the grand Roman history. It would be a good idea for every Rome tourist to walk around Rome at your own pace rather than say, in a tourist bus. Better still; if you believe 'when in Rome do as the Romans do', hire a scooter - that's a classic way to see Rome (remember Roman Holiday?).

The city has an excellent road network. You can reach the center of city from anywhere in Rome. In fact from top, the road network looks like spokes of a wheels where all the spokes (roads) meet at the center of city.

Rome's nightlife

If you visit Rome, then don't miss the famous Opera at Opera di Roma theater. Also if you are not into Operas, then you can enjoy the Rome night life. All kinds of pubs and bars with various themes are spread across the city. On the lighter side of things, there a lot of friendly wine bars and small clubs with unique ambiences to visit. One of the best things about Rome is the roadside cafes, with chairs and tables just off the sidewalks - that's a great way to have a cup of coffee, or a small snack while you are tired of walking around - you can really feel the city as you sit just off the road and look at Rome. The great thing about Restaurants in Rome is that they all constantly update their menus, now that's really healthy competition - and great for us eaters, we can expect a new menu every time we visit Rome after a few months.
