This course provides a broad framework for understanding
the basic concepts of management and organizational behavior.
It applies these concepts to the management of people and
resources toward the accomplishment of organizational goals.
Specific objectives include:  

1) understanding the various roles and competencies required
of managers,
2) understanding how environmental forces influence the
strategies of today's organizations,

3) understanding the political, legal, and cultural influences
that affect managing in a global economy,
4) understanding the forces and approaches influencing ethical
conduct within organizations,
5) understanding the basic elements and the major concepts/
theories of the four functions of management - planning,
organizing, leading, and controlling.

  
A variety of methodologies will be employed including lectures,
class discussions, exercises and the analysis of business news
and cases.

 
 

PLUS / MINUS grading will be used. There will be three 
 mid -term, 50 item, multiple-choice exams. See Policies.
