Gold Larnax from Tomb II at Vergina

ART AND ARCHAEOLOGY

PHOTO: The gold larnax (box) from Tomb II at Vergina (Aegae). The bones it contained (now on view in the bronze and marble construction over the grave mound at Vergina) are those of either King Philip II (Alexander the Great's father) or Philip III (Alexander's half-brother). See my article: John Paul Adams, "The Larnakes from Tomb II at Vergina," Archaeological News 12 (1983) 1-7.
