Amigos. Amigos is a place for ethnically diverse middle school and high school students, parents, teachers and interested adults to share stories, swap experiences, find information or ask questions. Spanish and English versions available.

Bilingual Books For Kids. Commercial publishers of books, written with Spanish and English appearing side-by-side, introduce bilingual skills, increase language and learning abilities and heighten awareness of many cultures. This Web site provides a top ten list and ordering information.

Bilingual Education and ESL Resources. Washington State University Program which includes links to ESL lesson Plans.

Bilingual Education Network (BEN). A variety of links of interest to bilingual and ESL teachers.

Bilingual Lesson Plans for Grade K-3. Paso Partners provides an instructional program for integrating mathematics, science and languge arts. Included are bilingual (English/Spanish) lesson plans for K-3 students.

Bilingual/ESL/Multicultural Education Resources. The University of Southern California Center for Multicultural, Multilingual Research provides an annoted list of useful links of interest to teachers. Full text articles and resources are also provided.

California Department of Education Resources for English Learners. The English Learners Web site at the California Department of Education focuses on the education of English learners-i.e., students with a primary language other than English who are limited-English proficient.

Center for the Study of Books in Spanish for Children and Adolescents.Sponsored by California State University at San Marcos, the Center endeavors to maintain strong ties with organizations interested in meeting the needs of young readers. (El Centro se esfuerza en mantener lazos con organizaciones interesadas en atender las necesidades de lectores jóvenes.) The center provides a schedule of workshops, names and addresses of publishers, bibliographies, and recommended books.

Cinco de Mayo. Celebrates victory of Mexican forces over the French in the 19th Century.

Civics Lesson Plans in Spanish. Five lesson plans written in Spanish which teach about the U.S. Constitution and citizenship. Suitable for middle and high school students.

CLNET Virtual Museum. The CLNET (Building Chicana/o Latina/o Communities Through Networking) museum allows you to select from among such topics as Art, Music, Dance, Theatre and Film, and Pictorial Essays.

Cuentos de Ika Bremer. Features interactive online stories in Spanish. These "cuentos" help Spanish-speaking children enrolled in bilingual education programs enhance their first-language reading comprehension skills.

Directory of Two-Way Immersion Programs in the U.S. The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is pleased to make this directory accessible in the hope that it will contribute to the expansion and improvement of two-way immersion programs worldwide. Programs are listed by state, grade level and language.

¡El Agua Trabaja!This bilingual site is a joint effort between first- and second-grade students at Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Elementary School, the Chicago Academy of Sciences, and Friends of the Chicago River. Five detailed lesson plans that can be adapted for use in any area are available.

El día de los muertos An online resource to use when you are teaching about El día de los muertos. Each of the several pages contains a photo and is written entirely in Spanish.

Electronic Textbook: Bilingual Education. Bilingual education is a controversial issue. The purpose of this site is not to debate the issue, but to provide links to various information available on the Internet.

Enlaces bilingües para niños y maestros Internet sites just for kids (mostly in Spanish) which include games, poems and stories. In addition, there are links to lesson plans for teachers and information for parents.

Especially Español. Especially Español features Spanish language resources suitable for bilingual classes. Included are activities and resources appropriate for elementary students, middle and high school students, as well as links to professional bilingual educator sites, internet tutorials, and other resources.

Estrellita Accelerated Beginning Spanish Reading. This site provides a description of the Estrellita Accelerated Beginning Spanish Reading program, an educational reading program in Spanish for dominant Spanish speakers. It is intended to be used by educators in bilingual classrooms. Hot Internet Sites En Español This is an internet hotlist of Spanish resources created by Beth Bustamante and appropriate for K-Community College. Teachers will find resources for students who are native speakers as well as for students learning Spanish as a foreign language. Included are lesson plans and activities for use with or without a computer.

Issues Page: Bilingual Education. A background essay on Bilingual Education in America today from Education Week. Includes definitions of educational terms, selected background readings, and links to relevant online articles and resources.

James Crawford's Language Policy Web Site & Emporium. The site is designed to encourage discussion of language policy issues (such as bilingual education and the English only movement), publish updates on current developments, report on pending legislation, and highlight links to other sources of information.

Juegos y Canciones para Niños. Spanish games and songs for children. Most of the songs included come from a CD called Naranja Dulce: Juegos Infantiles Compañia Infantil de Televicentro de Armando Torres. The CD is published by BMG in Mexico.

Kokone. This Spanish-language kids' site is about Mexico's culture. El Tlacuache, an opossum-like creature, is the animated guide. Students will find games and riddles, a Latin American cooking section, an animals and eco-adventure section, a life through the eyes of the children of Mexico section, a literature section , and a historical section.

Mexico for Kids. Written in French and Spanish as well as English for elementary school students, the site features a guide, El Balero, who takes youngsters on a tour of the geography, history, and government of Mexico.

Mundo Latino Rinconcito. Activities, games, and stories for Spanish-speaking elementary school pupils. Mundo Latino Rinconcito also includes a bulletin board for children and links to more children's sites.

National Clearing House for Bilingual Education (NCBC). The National Clearinghouse for Bilingual Education (NCBE) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs (OBEMLA) to collect, analyze, and disseminate information relating to the effective education of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the U.S. The site includes an online library, language and education links, databases, and links to publishers and distributors of teaching materials. You can also subscribe to an email news bulletin and an electronic discussion group.

New York State Bilingual/ESL Network. A source of information and teaching/learning activities relating to bilingual and ESL education.
