We are one of the largest of the 23 campuses in the California State University System. We are a vibrant comprehensive university with eight colleges which offer 49 master's degrees. Our current enrollment is approximately 28'000 with a graduate enrollment of 6'000 students.

Our commitment to setting high academic standards attracts a faculty of superior scholars who are experience in the teaching and research essential to graduate education. Our facilities are among the very best and the learning environment is excellent.

We are located in the San Fernando Valley just north of downtown Los Angeles, a location which offers access to a wealth of cultural, occupational and recreational opportunities which attract so many to Southern California. Numerous museums, theaters and concert venues are nearby as well as mountains, deserts, and the ocean with more than 70 miles of beautiful beaches.

What you need to know as a Graduate Student

Degree Process

Open University
Students who have not been admitted to the University may register in most university classes with the approval of the instructor and the academic department. Students should attend desired classes for the first week; then if space is available after the first week of classes, and with faculty approval, students may register at the Extension office, Bookstore Complex, first floor.

The same academic standards, rules and regulations that apply to regular university courses apply to Extension credit programs. All grades earned through Extension credit courses apply to Extension credit programs. All grades earned through Extension credit programs become part of CSU Northidge students' academic records. For more information contact the College of Extended Learning at (818) 677-CSUN.
