Dear Dr. Zavala,

I am writing you to inform of our summer program for minority students
in the sciences, the Bioinformatics Institute in Genomic Science
(BIGS).  This institute will, as the name indicates, be concerned
with bioinformatics and genomics.  These disciplines are central to
all aspects of biological and biomedical science.  


Julieta Aguilar of CSUN (I believe she is/was a student of yours.)
participated last year as part of her tenacious pursuit of academic
success.  We hope to have more students of her caliber in our
program this summer.

We would appreciate your assistance in identifying and recruiting
qualified students from your institution or others you may come across
through your affiliation with SACNAS. I have attached a flyer and
